When the drape became a couch عندما أصبح الغطاء كنبة
This project explores phantomatic presence and the role of the witness, navigating the tension between a solidified physical void and a flickering digital memory.

The installation centers on a freestanding sculpture of a shrouded sofa: a hollow shell of white drapery, solidified in place. Devoid of its internal structure, this "skin" stands as a silent witness to a nearby screen. On the monitor, a pixelated render of the same living room appears, similarly draped in white.

In a reversal of roles, the physical sofa watches its own digital ghost. The video loop is periodically fractured by news interferences - glitches that blur the line between archival footage (what was) and speculative fictions (what could be). A synchronized narration, delivered through both voice and subtitles, serves as the consciousness of the room:

“The news is a ghost in the sockets. The screen a vigil of anxious habit. Dust still sits on the velvet couch. I left, and the TV is still on.” - (Extract)
